The He She dolls were actual factory mistakes from a line of action figures based on the semi-popular cartoon series about a 1980's pop band, called Jem. They accidently put Jem's boyfriend Rio's head on Jem's body and then gave him/her Jem's makeup and hair.

Actually it was not a mistake, I don't know who came up with this wacky story, and if it were true it would have struck major controversy screwing up Hasbo's Jem, but the truth is when Hasbro stopped producing the Jem Dolls they ended up selling all the remaining dolls and parts to another company for their Super Star dolls, cheaply looking and ended up being sold in dollar stores, it disappointed me, seeing pictures of Kimber's head on some cheap body, same with all the other characters.
